Japanese company Daiwa Securities has opened its second office in Ireland in Dundalk, Co Louth, today and said it would create 300 jobs over five years.
Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Micheál Martin performed the official opening along with Shuji Nishiyama, chief executive officer of Daiwa Securities Global Asset Services.
The IDA-supported hedge fund administration office already employs 20 people.
"Daiwa's growth in business and employment is an endorsement of this Government's policy and IDA Ireland's strategy for international financial services in Ireland, which has identified international fund administration as an important sector for this country," Mr Martin said.
Daiwa is Japan's second largest securities firm. It already has an office at the IFSC in Dublin that employs 200 staff.
