The editor of Britain's best-selling broadsheet, the Daily Telegraph, resigned today amid speculation over a clash with the newspaper's owner Mr Conrad Black.
The Daily Telegraphsaid in a statement that Mr Moore, who has led the newspaper for the past eight years, would be replaced by former Telegraphnews editor Mr Martin Newland.
Mr Moore edited the Telegraph, which is owned by Mr Black's Hollinger International , during one of the sharpest downturns in the newspaper industry.
Rumours have swirled that Mr Moore has not seen eye-to-eye with Mr Black over strategy. The Telegraph'scirculation has fallen to just above 900,000 from more than one million copies in the past year but still remains the biggest-selling daily broadsheet.
