Counterfeit designer clothing with a retail value of €300,000 has been seized by customs officers at Dublin Port.

The goods arrived at Dublin Port by container from Indonesia and were in a consignment of 203 cartons.

Included in the consignment was clothing and baseball caps with the Nike, Ferrari, Polo Lauren, Adidas and Levi's brands.

This is the 59th seizure this year of counterfeit clothing by customs officers in the State. More than 18,500 pieces have been seized, with a combined retail value of €455,000.

In 2002 customs officials made just under 300 seizures confiscating goods valued at €2.87 million.
