Revenue seizes cigarettes and tobacco worth €38,000 in Dublin

Discoveries made during raids on two premises in the north inner city

More than 7,000 contraband cigarettes and 77kg of tobacco worth an estimated €38,000 have been seized in Dublin’s north inner city in recent days.

In a raid of a premises this morning, Revenue discovered 7,000 cigarettes and 5kg of tobacco with an estimated retail value of €5,565. The cigarettes had Kingdom, Mayfair, Marlboro, Dorchester and Golden Eagle branding, while the tobacco packaging had Samson and Eastenders logos.

In a separate search over the weekend, Revenue discovered 48kg of rolling tobacco, hidden in table lamp boxes at another premises in the north inner city. A further 24kg of tobacco was later discovered, bringing the estimated retail value of the haul to €32,700.

The seizures are part of an ongoing operation targeting the supply and sale of illegal cigarettes and tobacco.
