Man treated for injuries after Dublin shooting

Gardaí investigating incident in which victim shot in face in Clondalkin area

A man was being treated for injuries after being shot in the face in Dublin on Friday.

Gardaí said they were investigating a discharge of a firearm in the Clondalkin area of Dublin.

The incident took place at Cherrywood Grove at approximately 5pm but the circumstances were unclear on Friday night.

A man, aged in his 20s, was taken to Tallaght hospital for treatment though his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. The scene of the shooting was preserved and a technical examination was undertaken by investigating officers.

No arrests have been made although the investigation remains ongoing, a spokesman said.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

In particular, they appealed to anyone who was in the Cherrywood Grove area of Clondalkin and the surrounding area between 5pm and 5.30pm, and anyone who may have been in Corkagh Park at the time and who may have information to come forward.

Road users with camera footage have also been asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí.
