One garda injured after incident which is thought to have occurred after a burglary

A man has been charged with a number of road traffic offences following a high speed chase in Dublin on Monday.

The charges relate to an incident during which a van failed to stop for gardaí on Lockview Road in Clondalkin.

The van was followed by gardaí before being abandoned in the south inner city area a short time later.

The man, who is in his 20s, was arrested at the scene and taken to Clondalkin Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

It’s understood the van was taken earlier in the day during the course of a burglary.

A Garda was treated in hospital for injuries arising from the incident but has been discharged.

He was due to appear before a sitting of Dublin District Court late on Tuesday.
