Man (23) for court over seizure of cannabis in Longford

A 23-year-old man is expected in court this evening charged in connection with the seizure of cannabis herb worth an estimated €120,000 in Co Longford.

Around 6kg of the drug was discovered during a search at a house in Legan in Edgeworthstown yesterday.

The man was arrested at the scene and brought to Longford Garda station, where he was detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

He will appear before a special sitting of Longford District Court this evening.
