You cannot have rural living without smells, a farm leader has told urban people seeking the good life in the country.
Frank Kehoe of the Irish Cattle and Sheepfarmers' Association (ICSA) said at the weekend that some farmers were plagued by complaints about the spreading of slurry at this time of year.
The Wexford-based farmer advised people thinking of moving to the countryside not to come unless they buy into the whole package "smells and all".
"Country smells are part and parcel of rural life, just as errant house alarms are part of urban life," Mr Kehoe said.
