A Cavan Fianna Fail county councillor has been fined £750 on assault charges at Bailieboro Court following a disturbance outside his pub in the town. Mr Michael Giles became involved in a melee on May 13th last year when he tried to disperse a crowd outside his premises. Mr Giles, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, said he had tried to stop a row outside the pub.
