Dublin City Council will explain its “position” at the Supreme Court on Monday after its legal team’s failure on Thursday to challenge an application to overturn the fine and committal of Priory Hall builder Thomas McFeely.
Mr McFeely had been committed to prison and fined €1 million for contempt of orders and undertakings aimed at completing urgent fire safety works.
Later on Thursday his lawyers went to the Supreme court for his release pending an appeal. The Chief Justice Mrs Justice Susan Denham described the council’s position as “extraordinary” and granted his release.
