McLaren's David Coulthard led today's morning warm-up for a Hungarian Grand Prix the Briton needs to win to keep his slim championship hopes alive.

Ferrari's Michael Schumacher, who leads Coulthard by 37 points and starts on pole, was second fastest ahead of Brazilian team mate Rubens Barrichello in an uneventful session before the race.

Coulthard's time, on a hot and humid morning, was one minute 16.915 seconds compared to Schumacher's 1:17.338.

Schumacher will take his fourth title if he secures a record-equalling 51st career victory and he was fastest for most of the session before Coulthard put in his best lap in the last two minutes.

Briton Jenson Button appeared to have a problem, occupying last place in his Renault-powered Benetton with eight laps completed.
