A file is to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions following a Garda investigation in West Cork into the alleged sexual abuse of a young boy.

Gardaí in Co Cork are thought to be investigating pornographic material featuring children after a man was arrested yesterday morning at a house in the Castletownbere area.

The 23-year-old man was arrested at 9.45 a.m. yesterday after gardaí in Bantry received an allegation of sexual abuse against a boy.

It was reported this morning that pornographic pictures were recovered in the house and that computer equipment was seized. A Garda spokeswoman said she could not confirm this, however.

The man was questioned and released last night without charge. A file will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
