More than 40,000 commuters in Cork suffered a two-hour disruption of services yesterday after local Bus Eireann drivers staged an unofficial work stoppage. The protest was over the age of the buses used on the city's suburban routes and lasted from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The drivers claim that 45 of the buses are between 14 and 15 years old and need replacing.
