Patrick Holland, who is serving a 12-year sentence on drug charges, was given leave by the Supreme Court yesterday to challenge the constitutionality of the Proceeds of Crime Act, the legislation under which the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) operates.

His house and its contents have been sold by the CAB. The Chief Justice, Mr Justice Keane, said Holland had put forward arguable grounds for his claim that certain sections of the 1996 Act were unconstitutional.
