THUMBS DOWN:Apple might still make the coolest computers on the block but it is struggling in the face of the global recession as consumers opt for cheaper alternatives .

Mac sales fell 16 per cent year-on-year in February, according to research firm NPD Group. Sales of PCs, meanwhile, increased 22 per cent in the same period thanks to a boost in sales of cheap, lightweight netbooks.
