Concerns over explosives plant

Plans to site an industrial explosives factory in the Shannon Estuary have caused local concern. The Canadian and Irish promoters selected a site at Cahercon, near Kildysart, Co Clare, for the project and will be seeking a licence shortly from the Department of Justice. Concerned residents are seeking more information from the promoters, the Canadian ETI, a major manufacturer of explosives worldwide, and the Ennis-based Whelan Group Ltd.
