Residents who are entitled to £10,000 sterling compensation as former prisoners of war in Japan can contact the British War Pensioners' Welfare Service at Pembroke Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, or at 01 660 1122.
The compensation can be claimed by members of the British army or navy who were imprisoned by the Japanese during the second World War and by widows of those who would have been entitled to the payment.
