Coach crash in Westmeath leaves 19 injured

Nineteen people were injured after the coach they were travelling in crashed into the back of an articulated lorry in Co Westmeath this morning.

The accident happened on the road between Tullamore and Kilbeggan. The passengers on the coach are understood to have been tourists from Wales.

The injured adults were taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore, and children travelling on the coach have been taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar.

Gardai say no-one was seriously hurt in the incident, the cause of which is under investigation.
