Clare company to cut 50 jobs

Co Clare company Finsa Forest Products today announced the  redundancy of 50 of its staff due to a collapse in its business.

Co Clare company Finsa Forest Products today announced the  redundancy of 50 of its staff due to a collapse in its business.

Management met union representatives and staff at the timber processing firm's plant in Scarriff to confirm the job reductions.

Before today, the company had downsized over the past two years from 160 staff to 80.

The latest accounts for the company show that the company racked up pre-tax losses of €4 million for the second year running in 2009.
