LONDON - The man who gave his name to one of the most loved characters in British children's fiction has died aged 75, it was reported last night. Christopher Robin Milne, son of the writer A A Milne, grew to regret his father's decision to use his name in his multi million selling Winnie the Pooh books.

Of his father's need to turn his life into literature, he said.

"When I was three, my father was three. When I was six, he was six... He needed me to escape from being 50."
