A Christian radio station will go on air from Cork from mid-March after it was granted a five-year licence by the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland.

Life FM will be broadcast from a premises at Deanrock industrial estate, Togher, Cork.

Construction work at the site has been completed with the help of volunteers in the building trade and donations of building materials, office equipment, furniture and other essentials.

In early 2004 Life FM went on air for 10 days, having obtained a temporary licence.

A further temporary licence was obtained in 2005 to allow the station to gauge public opinion. It transmitted for six weeks with mainly positive feedback.

Various Christian denominations in Cork have joined together to set up the station, which will go on air on March 16th. The station will be run primarily by volunteers, with two paid workers.
