China's Ministry of Agriculture today confirmed outbreaks of bird flu in the financial centre Shanghai and in the northern city of Tianjin near the capital, Beijing.

It also confirmed six bird flu outbreaks in southwestern Yunnan and southern Guangdong provinces.

A black swan has also died at a zoo in Shenzhen, bordering Hong Kong, due to the H5N1 bird flu virus.
