Twenty nine community-based childcare providers will receive £2.6 million in grants towards staffing costs as part of the Equal Opportunities Childcare Programme.
The Minister for Justice Mr O'Donoghue said 51 self-employed or private sector childcare providers will get a share of nearly £1.5 million for capital costs.
According to the Minister, this funding will create over 1,600 new childcare places and assist many others.
Today's announcement brings to over £63.7 million the support for childcare, said the minister.
