LONDON - The wife of the British Prime Minister, Mr Blair, is to appear before the European Court of Justice to argue for the rights of a lesbian's lover.
Ms Cherie (Booth) Blair QC will represent a railway booking clerk, Ms Lisa Grant, in Luxembourg on July 9th. Ms Grant (29) applied for cheap travel concessions for her partner, Ms Jillian Percey (37), a nurse, from her employers South West Trains. The company refused, saying its policy was to give the concession only to employees' partners of the opposite sex.
