Catholics in Ireland have been writing to the Archbishop of Dublin Diarmuid Martin “saying that they want to be Irish Catholics and not Roman Catholics and some even ask me to break away from Rome and become the leader of an ‘Irish’ church,” he said.

He was speaking at the Archbishop’s House in Drumcondra last night where he held a discussion with 25 young leaders from different Christian churches in Ireland, North and South, on challenges they faced.

“Young people have problems with the structures of the church, with the institution of the church.”
