Former eircom League stars Richie Foran, Trevor Molloy and Brian Shelley have been given hefty match bans for red card offences in a recent Carlisle United league game.

The trio were sidelined in Carlisle’s 1-0 away victory to Lincoln City at Sincil Bank 12 days ago.

Foran lasted nine minutes at Sincil Bank before being sent from the pitch for violent conduct. He will serve a three-match ban and miss upcoming games against Exeter, Rochdale and Rotherham.

The player was touted as a hot prospect going into the third division but had that reputation tarnished somewhat following a series of red cards during his time at Shelbourne.

Molloy, a former St Patrick’s Athletic, Bohemians and Shelbourne player, scored the winner from the penalty spot but was red carded for dissent late in the game. He will serve a two-match ban and miss both the Exeter and Rochdale games.

Shelley, who like Molloy played under current boss Roddy Collins at Bohemians, was sent off 14 minutes from time, also for violent conduct, and receives a three-match ban.
