Kildare County Council today announced a ban on using hosepipes and car washes due to a continuing water shortage in the county.
The ban, which will be in place for three weeks, prohibits the use of commercial car-wash services and the use of hoses for car washing or irrigation.
The council has also appealed for continued conservation of water, saying “capacity in the public supply system has improved but further savings are necessary to ensure a return to normality”.
