The Criminal Assets Bureau did not signal an intention to seek a judicial review in advance of the decision by the Flood tribunal to reject its request for privilege in respect of a number of key files related to Mr George Redmond, the Garda Commissioner said last night.

In a statement, Mr Pat Byrne said the bureau had sought time to consider Mr Justice Flood's decision on Wednesday and this was being considered by the legal team representing the CAB. "A decision will be taken in the very near future," he said in a statement.
