Most areas of North County Dublin will be without water until 9 p.m. tonight after a mains pipe burst near Swords this morning.
Fingal County Cpuncil said that as many as 50,000 homes are affected in Donabate, Portrane, Rush, Lusk, Skerries and Balbriggan.
Engineers have begun repair work which will not be completed until tonight.
