A Kilkenny man whose legs were severely burned in an alleged attempted murder told the Central Criminal Court yesterday that he was an alcoholic from the age of 17 and had severe problems with his memory.

Paul Barry (34), Ossory Park, Kilkenny, previously told the court that he recalled Thomas O'Grady (24), Fatima Place, Kilkenny, putting his feet into a fire at Pennesfatherslot, Kilkenny, on October 10th, 1999.

Mr Barry's burns in the alleged incident required both of his legs to be amputated. Mr O'Grady denies two counts of the attempted murder of Mr Barry. The trial continues.
