A director of a building company who was jailed last week for breaches of safety regulations on a construction site has been released by the High Court.

Jason Madden, a director of Kilkishen Homes Ltd, Henry Street, Limerick, was fined €10,000 for contempt of court and was warned by Mr Justice Kelly he would spend more than a weekend in jail if the company came before him again.

The case concerned breaches of safety regulations at a site at Monroe, near Nenagh, Co Tipperary, where Kilkishen Homes are building a number of houses.

Madden was jailed on Friday when Mr Justice Kelly said the court was going to mark its disapproval of building contractors "dicing with the lives and health of employees by taking short cuts, omitting to comply with the legislation, with one object in view - the maximisation of profit".
