Former Upton Park favourite Trevor Brooking has been appointed West Ham's caretaker manager for the last three matches of the season.
Brooking, a member of the West Ham board, has stepped in to help with team affairs after boss Glenn Roeder was taken ill following Monday's 1-0 victory against Middlesbrough.
Roeder was diagnosed with a blockage of a blood vessel in his brain and is still in hospital.
West Ham travel to Manchester City on Sunday, host Chelsea at home the following week and then head to Birmingham on the final day of the Premiership season. Realistically, they have to win every game to be in with a chance of staying in the Premiership.
