London - A notorious, muscle-bound criminal who named himself after the Hollywood actor Charles Bronson was sentenced to life in prison yesterday for taking a teacher hostage in his cell, officials said.

A jury at Luton Crown Court found Bronson (47), who has spent 22 of his 26 years in jail in solitary confinement, guilty on both counts of imprisoning the prison teacher, a court spokeswoman said. Bronson had denied holding Philip Danielson for 44 hours in January 1999 at Hull prison.
