A Dublin teenager charged with the manslaughter of a taxi driver and a teenage boy in a crash last January has been returned for trial in the Circuit Criminal Court.

The Dublin Children's Court heard the 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with the manslaughter of taxi driver, Mr Robert "Bob" McGowan (30), from Galtymore Road, Drimnagh, who died in the early hours of January 11th.

He is also accused of the manslaughter of teenager, Mr Edward Gavin on the same date.

He also faces charges for dangerous driving causing death of both Mr McGowan and Mr Gavin as well as other counts for criminal damage, dangerous driving and reckless endangerment and unlawful use of a mechanically propelled vehicle without the owner's consent in the same incident.

The DPP had earlier directed trial on indictment for the teenager and another 16-year-old boy who is charged with travelling as a passenger in the stolen car allegedly involved in the incident.

Both teenagers were further remanded in custody in St Patrick's Institution.
