Sarajevo - The international community in Bosnia yesterday welcomed an accord struck by feuding Bosnian Serb factions which is to lead to a general election in the troubled Serb entity.

Under a deal struck on Wednesday, the Bosnian Serb president, Ms Biljana Plavsic, and her hardline rival, Mr Momcilo Krajisnik, agreed to elections in order to end their long-running power struggle and test their respective backings. Legislative elections in the Serb Republic will be held on November 15th while the presidential elections have been set for December 7th.
