BERNARD MacLaverty made a quiet but enjoyable come-back when the publication of his book, Grace Notes, was celebrated by friends and family in the Dublin Bookshop on a rainy Tuesday night. Bernard, who came from Glasgow with his wife Madelaine MacLaverty for the occasion, stopped off first at his old friend, artist Joe McWillaims's exhibition opening in the Hallward Gallery.

In the bookshop he was joined by actor John Kavanagh and his wife Anne Kavanagh, by P.J. Lynch, the well known children's books illustrator who chatted about his forthcoming work which will be published in the autumn, and by Francis Power from O'Brien Press, who was elated a bout the company - scooping the top two prizes at the Bisto Children's Book Awards last week.
