Bombardier said today that its aerospace unit plans to cut more than 300 subcontractor jobs in Belfast as part of a worldwide response to a drop in business jet orders.
In total the company is letting 1,010 temporary workers and subcontractors and 350 permanent employees go, representing about 4.5 per cent of its 30,000 worldwide jobs.
The layoffs, which include unionized, salaried and management workers, will take place at its facilities in Montreal, Wichita and Belfast over a five-month period, beginning this month.
