Shelbourne 1 Bohemians 3
Defending champions Bohemians are back on top of the eircom League after mugging Shelbourne on their own patch tonight.
Bohs survived going behind to an early Shelbourne goal to overhaul their Dubin rivals at the top of the table as the league run-in enters the home straight.
The highly anticipated clash of the Premier Division pacesetters took a little under 10 minutes to spark into life when Richie Baker fired the home side in front. But, typical of the ebb and flow on the night, Bohs were on terms within two minutes, Paul Keegan netting the equaliser.
The contest continued to enthrall with both sides enjoying chances throughout the opening period but it was Bohs who went into the break with their noses in front.
Wes Hoolahan could, and perhaps should, have converted for Shelbourne but when he wasted a gilt-edged opportunity from the edge of the six yard box, Bohs promptly got grabbed the winner when Thomas Heary unleashed a fierce left foot drive which evaded Steve Williams in the Shels goal.
Stephen Kenny's side went further in front shortly after break when Colin Hawkins met an in-swinging corner at the back post and made no mistake from close range.
Bohemians now lead the way on 56 points, with Shelbourne on 55.
