Laurent Blanc is expected to start for Manchester United against beaten Champions League finalists Bayer Leverkusen in Germany tomorrow night.
Blanc was rested for Saturday's 1-0 Premiership win over Tottenham.
Fit-again Gary Neville is also in the squad and could make a return at right full-back.
Ferguson will decide between Neville, his younger brother Phil and Ireland's John O'Shea for the right-back berth if Blanc returns to partner Rio Ferdinand in the centre.
Nicky Butt is fit and will continue in midfield alongside David Beckham, Juan Sebastian Veron and Ryan Giggs.
