London - The British Prime Minister, Mr Tony Blair, marked the centenary of the Labour Party yesterday by telling about a thousand faithful that the party could thrive only by forming a "broad coalition" in British society.

"When we have won, we have established a broad coalition of support, from all walks of life, all parts of the country. When we have lost, we have retreated to a narrow base," Mr Blair told the gathering in London.
