Bishop of Down elected

A CO CORK-based minister has been elected to succeed Dr Gordon McMullan as the Church of Ireland Bishop of Down and Dromore.

A CO CORK-based minister has been elected to succeed Dr Gordon McMullan as the Church of Ireland Bishop of Down and Dromore.

Canon Harold Creeth Miller, rector of Carrigrohane Parish, was chosen as bishop-elect at a special meeting of the Church of Ireland House of Bishops in Dublin yesterday.

The 47-year-old minister is a native of the Shore Road in Belfast and was educated in Belfast schools and at Trinity College Dublin and Nottingham University. He was ordained a priest in 1977.
