Proxy Biomedical plans to double its workforce over the next two years with the hiring of 16 staff for its new manufacturing base in An Spidéal, Co Galway.

At the opening of the new facility, Peter Mulrooney, Proxy Biomedical director, said Galway has a cluster of biomedical and pharmaceutical firms and that Údarás na Gaeltachta had "provided a high standard facility" to allow the company expand.

Proxy Biomedical researches, develops, produces and markets biomaterials for the repair and regeneration of tissue.
