Dr Timothy Mantle of Trinity College has won this year's Royal Irish Academy award in biochemistry, a prize given for outstanding research in biochemistry by a scientist working in Ireland. It was presented to Dr Mantle at a ceremony last week by the RIA president, Prof David Spearman.

The annual award is in the form of a specially designed silver medal sponsored by Schering Plough (Brinny) Ltd.
