Belgian chocolates were given the all-clear by the EU Standing Veterinary Commission yesterday, following the recent dioxin scare, and the Food Safety Authority in Dublin lifted its restrictions.

Other Belgian products with dioxin clearance certificates from the Belgian Ministry of Health will be allowed back on to the market, the FSA said. The Leonidas Belgian luxury chocolate chain said its 12 shops will reopen next week. Lir Chocolates welcomed the lifting of the restrictions.
