England skipper David Beckham missed training today ahead of Wednesday night's crucial Euro 2004 qualifier against Turkey.

The Manchester United midfielder sat out this morning's session with a blistered foot, although the problem is not serious enough to make him a doubt for the game at Sunderland's Stadium of Light.

Newcastle's Kieron Dyer was also conspicuous by his absence, although he was rested as usual on the Monday after a game to allow his sore shins to recover.

The remaining 20 members of Sven-Goran Eriksson's squad - Jermaine Jenas and Francis Jeffers last night joined up with David Platt's under-21 party - went through their paces at their secluded Slaley Hall headquarters near Hexham.
