ACTIONS against B & I Line by officers who claimed they were exposed to asbestos dust over a number of days on board a chartered ferry have been settled, the High Court was told yesterday.

Last Friday, Mr Justice Johnson awarded £35,900 to Mr Sean O'Byrne (44), Aranleigh Road, Rathfarnham, Dublin. Claims by a further seven plaintiffs who served on the ferry Noronna in 1989/1990 were adjourned.

Yesterday, the judge was told six of those cases had been settled and he began the hearing of the seventh by Mr John Ryan (60), an electrician, of Marian Grove, Rathfarnham. Later, it was stated the case had been settled for £37,500.
