Three children who claim to have suffered prolonged grief reaction following the accidental death of their sister when she was knocked down by a bus have accepted undisclosed settlement offers from Dublin Bus.

Jennifer Hoban (14) died shortly after being hit by a bus while crossing Killinarden Way, Tallaght, on November 5th, 1997. It is understood the settlement yesterday was made “without prejudice”.

David Hoban (21), Kenneth (24) and sister Elaine (25) Hoban were only nine, 12 and 13 when Jennifer was killed, the Circuit Civil Court was told.

They had sued Dublin Bus through their father Thomas Hoban, Donomore Crescent, Killinarden, for damages for psychiatric injury.

Conor Kearney, for the Hobans, told Circuit Court president Mr Justice Matthew Deery that the three cases could be transferred into the names of the three plaintiffs.

Gerard O’Herlihy, for Dublin Bus, said the cases could be struck out without further order.
