The Australian Football League has announced its 24-man squad for the upcoming International Rules series which is to be played in Dublin and Galway at the end of the month.

The squad, which will again be coached by Essendon legend Kevin Sheedy, will be defending the Cormac McAnallen trophy, which it won 2-0 on home soil last year.

Sheedy said the squad's make up had been based on last year's successful model with an emphasis on pace and youth, sprinkled with older players who had successfully played the game at International Level in earlier years.

"The ball will spend a lot of time on the ground and we showed last year that we can be very successful with a young, fast group, with a real emphasis on their ability to kick the ball and to be able to chase and tackle well," Sheedy said.
