There was an attempt to set fire to a church in Belfast last night, the RUC said.
The incident occurred at about 11.15 p.m. when intruders forced their way into Holy Cross Chapel grounds on the Crumlin road. They poured flammable liquid into the laundry room, setting it alight.
A passing British army patrol put out the fire. The damage was said to be minor.
Also last night, two petrol bombs were thrown at houses in Oldthrone Park, Newtownabbey, Co Antrim at about 11 p.m. One house was vacant at the time; a woman in the second house escaped injury.
