Patrick Vieira's verbal attack on Arsenal has provoked an angry response from club chairman Peter Hill-Wood.

Speaking in Tuesday’s Daily Mail Hill-Wood warned Vieira that he should look at his own form before comdemning that of Arsenal.

"He wasn't a world-class player when he came to Highbury - Arsene Wenger brought him here and he has been a major factor in his development,"

"When he talks about success and ambition, Patrick must look at himself as much as the club who employ him.

The 25-year-old Frenchman, who has made clear his intentions to leave the English Premier League club after criticising their Champions League ambitions.

"I hope he remembers he was a big part of the team that didn't win anything last season," added the chairman.

Meanwhile the unsettled midfielder has ruled out a move to Italy.
